La historia todavía no conoce mi nombre /History doesn’t know my name yet

Un nahual emerge en forma animal para advertir: la tierra de Yucatán está
siendo herida y profanada. Mientras avanza el megaproyecto del Tren
Maya, Falú confronta su identidad y sentido de pertenencia, atrapado entre
la preservación de sus raíces y las fuerzas que amenazan con borrarlas.

A nahual emerges in animal form to deliver a warning: the land of Yucatán is
being wounded and desecrated. As the Maya train megaproject continues,
Falú confronts his identity and sense of belonging, caught between preserving
his roots and the forces that threaten to erase them.

Sinopsis

Durante la construcción del Tren Maya, el proyecto de ingeniería civil más
grande de América Latina, Falú trabaja en la identificación y preservación de
restos arqueológicos amenazados por las obras que cruzan la selva, los ceno-
tes y otros sitios sagrados de la cultura Maya. Sin embargo, un conflicto inter-
no lo consume: desea proteger el patrimonio y territorio ancestral, pero se ve
forzado a colaborar en el mismo megaproyecto que representa una amenaza
para ellos. En este proceso, un nahual aparece en forma de animal, trayendo
un mensaje urgente: la tierra de Yucatán está siendo herida y profanada.
Navegando entre las normas sociales y el legado colonial, Falú es un ser
queer en tensión, al igual que el animal que el nahual elije para comunicar-
se, la vaca traída hace muchos años por los españoles. ¿Quién es el otro?
¿Quién mira a quién?
“La historia aún no conoce mi nombre” revela un espacio de complejidades y
relaciones, en el que se vislumbran fugazmente las intersecciones transiciona-
les de las narrativas humanas y no humanas, de la tecnología y la naturaleza.

During the construction of the Tren Maya, Latin America’s largest civil engi-
neering project, Falú works to identify and preserve archaeological remains
endangered by the project’s route through jungles, cenotes, and other sacred
sites of Mayan culture. However, an internal conflict consumes him: he longs
to protect this ancestral heritage and territory, yet he is compelled to collab-
orate on the very megaproject that threatens them. In this process, a nahual
appears in animal form, bringing an urgent message: the land of Yucatán is
being wounded and desecrated.
Navigating social norms and the colonial legacy, Falú, a queer person, is in
tension, much like the animal the nahual chooses to communicate through:
the cow, brought by the Spanish many years ago. Who is the Other? Who
is observing whom?
“History doesn’t know my name yet” reveals a space of complexities and rela-
tionships, offering a fleeting glimpse into the transitional intersections between
human and non-human narratives, between technology and nature.
